IS Jihadists Kidnap Kurdish Farmer in Disputed Town of Prde

ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants kidnapped a Kurdish farmer in Prde district, on the highway between Erbil and Kirkuk, on Monday night.

Local sources confirmed to BasNews that Fazil Mohammad Karim, 70, was kidnapped after a group of IS jihadists stormed Koldara village.

BasNews contacted the police department in Prde, but no one was available immediately to comment.

Prde, which is located on the shores of the Little Zab river's Dibis Lake, falls under the administration of Kirkuk province.

It is one of the Kurdish territories disputed between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi government. The latter currently controls the town.
