Coalition Warplanes Kill Nearly 20 IS Militants in Makhmour

ERBIL - Airstrikes by the US-led Coalition warplanes have killed nearly 20 Islamic State (IS) insurgents in the disputed Kurdish town of Makhmour over the past 72 hours, a Peshmerga commander said on Thursday.

Peshmerga commander of Makhmour-Gwer frontline, Sirwan Barzani, said in a statement that the coalition fighter jets have carried out more than 15 airstrikes against the hideouts of the IS group in Mount Qarachukh and west of Kwshaf village, as cited by Kurdistan 24.

"More than 18 terrorists have been killed," the Peshmerga commander said.

This comes about two weeks after 15 IS jihadists were killed in joint operations by Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga fighters and Coalition forces in the same region.
