Medics Visit Kurdistan’s Saint Valentine on Valentine's Day

ERBIL — A group of medics from Soran district of Erbil province visited Ali Ashiq, known as the Kurdish Saint Valentine, on Valentine’s Day.

The team was dispatched to Ali’s residence in a deep valley on Hamilton road to do medical check ups for the senior citizen who has now gained reputation for his love solitude.

Mina Taha, a spokesperson for the Health Directorate in Soran, told BasNews after the checkup that Ali was in a good health despite the cold weather and lack of electricity, heating system and clean water at his home.

She explained to BasNews that Ali Ashiq (translated as Ali the Lover) is the symbol of pure love in Kurdistan, and that the health directorate of Soran wanted to pay tribute to him on Valentine’s Day.

According to Taha, there was a plan to send another group of crews to clean Ali’s place and provide him with basics.
