ERBIL - At least 17 houses have totally been destroyed in a village in Rania of Sulaimaniya province due to heavy rainfall and floods, police confirmed on Friday.
Shorish Ismail, a spokesperson for Raparin Police Directorate, told BasNews that other than the 17 houses, the flooding has also caused great damages to the yard of the hospital in the village of Qrnatan in Sangasar, Rania city.
He said that the Wednesday night's flood also swept away a vehicle, while it affected the electricity towers in the area.
According to the official, several bridges were destroyed in the region.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Soran city of Erbil province have warned of possible heavy rainfall on Friday night, urging residents to avoid traveling among cities for safety purposes.
