ERBIL — The Yezidi Development Party has warned about Hashd al-Shaabi’s policies in Sinjar and other Yezidi-populated areas, saying that the Shi’ite militias are abducting civilians.
The party said in an official statement on Saturday that the Iranian-backed militias are now in full control of Sinjar and they continue to abduct and torture the Yezidis.
According to the statement, Hashd al-Shaabi has recently escalated the pressure on the Yezidis, especially in Domiz district, to force them out of their homes.
After the occupation of Kirkuk last year in October, Hashd al-Shaabi also moved in Sinjar and took control of the strategic Yezidi town. The militia group is often accused of human rights violations against Sunni Muslims, Yezidis, Christians and other religious minority groups.
