In Pictures: Kurdish Girls Set up Book Case in Public to Encourage Reading

The group's aim is to culturize reading and enhance literacy in Kurdish society

SULAYMANIYAH — The Sofia book club, a group of females focusing on culturizing reading in the Kurdish society, has recently set up a small book case near a bus stop to encourage reading.

The Sofia group is a book club consisting of females, established and based in Sulaymaniyah in Kurdistan Region and is mainly focused on developing women’s literacy and promoting reading culture in the Kurdish society.

To create a reading culture in the society, the Sofia group has included different kinds of books near a bus stop aiming to help the financially weak people to get their hands on books as they can't afford to buy them.

The books are all voluntarily provided by the members of the group.
