[In Pictures] Baghdad Hosts Marathon to Promote Peace

ERBIL— Nearly 500 personnel from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Saturday staged a marathon race in Baghdad, as a symbolic move to voice the Iraqi peoples' hopes for peace.

The sports event, entitled Marathon against Violence, began from Nahrain University, on the banks of the Tigris.

"We, as diplomats, loved to support this event and tell the world that Baghdad is the city for peace not violence," said a participant, Burhan Jaf, the chief of  MoFA's Asia and Australia Department.
