ERBIL — An Iranian court has issued an amputation sentence for a Kurdish man after charging him with thievery.
Hangaw Organization for Human Rights identified the inmate as Kasra Karami, 37, from Kermanshah province. He was issued the sentence in the criminal court of Urmiyeh.
Karami has been behind the bars since 2015 when he was arrested for thievery.
According to Iranian laws, which are based on Islamic Sharia rules, a convict of thievery will have his hand chopped. The first time he will lose four fingers only.
