ERBIL — Turkish security forces claimed on Saturday they have killed 99 guerrillas of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) over the past two weeks.
According to an official statement, the Kurdish fighters were targeted in Sirnak and Hakkari provinces where they have reportedly killed a senior member of the Kurdish party.
“Ninety-nine terrorists have been neutralized. One was in the so-called leading ranks,” reads the statement, revealing that the operation was conducted between 24th August and 7th September.
420 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, used for making explosives, as well as bombs, guns and rifles were allegedly seized from the positions previously used by the PKK on Turkey’s border areas with Iraq.
