ERBIL — The Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Syrian wing of the PKK, arrested a member of the local council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP-S), in the town of Karki Laki in Qamishlo in Rojava (the Syrian Kurdistan).
"A patrol of PYD gunmen on Monday night raided the house of Mohammed al-Saadi, a member of KDP-S local council, and took him to an unknown location," said the KDP-S in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement described the practices of PYD forces as "shameful," noting that "these practices serve the agendas of the enemies of the Kurdish people.”
"These actions are contrary to the simplest human values and go against all appeals and efforts for unifying the Kurds," the statement continued.
The PYD security forces have so far arrested many leaders and cadres of the Syrian Kurdish National Council, a political umbrella for a number of political parties regarded by PYD as rivals for having different political views from those of PKK.
