ERBIL — The Kurdish activists blame the state of the large fire which is continuing to burn the forests of the Kurdish region in northwest Iran for the third day in a row.
The fire has burnt dozens of hectares of forest, in addition to the significant damage to the wild life.
The Kurdish activists in Iranian Kurdistan accused the authorities of causing the fire intentionally.
On Thursday, activists from the Kurdish region of Iran released photos on social media, showing large areas of charred forests, dead wild animals and birds as a result of the fire.
They said that the continued artillery shelling by the Iranian forces on the mountains of Shaho in the area of Kamyaran in Kurdistan Province in western Iran resulted in the outbreak of the fire, and that the people are unable to control it.
The Iranian authorities declared the area a military zone and has imposed a seven-day curfew on it.
