MOSUL — One of latest crimes of the Islamic State (IS) against humanity is illegal trafficking of human organs in order to increase its weakened financial status.
"We have enough evidence to prove that IS has been commercialising human organs" said an official of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul.
Esmat Rajab told BasNews that IS removes body parts such as kidney, heart and other parts of the captives with the help of special surgeons before executing them.
IS militants smuggle those human organs to the black markets outside Iraq to raise funds and strengthen the financial status of the group after it has been weakened, the official said.
After losing its financial sources, the militant group has increased trafficking of human organs and a huge number of people are expected to face such inhuman practice, he added.
Speaking to BasNews, Saeed Mamuzini, a KDP official in Mosul, said that IS takes the captives who are sentenced to death to a special hospital where all their organs like kidneys, eyes, and hearts are removed and then smuggled to the international black markets.
"IS is making a huge amount of money out of this bloody commerce" he said.
Earlier in 2015, the Iraqi Ambassador to the United Nations urged the organisation to investigate “IS’s bloody trade with human organs.”
He revealed at that time that a large number of civilian corpses, with missing body parts, have been recovered from mass graves, “and it proves that the allegations are true.”
