ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received on Friday a diplomatic delegation from the United States, headed by Andrew Peek, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran.
The sides exchanged views on the latest political developments in the region, welcoming the progress in Erbil-Baghdad relations after a period of disagreements and tensions.
The US diplomats reiterated the importance of Kurdistan Region’s contribution to the political process in Baghdad, especially since the establishment of a new government in the capital.
They also welcomed the agreement between Kurdistan Region and Iraq to jointly resume the oil exports from Kirkuk.
