ERBIL — A top military delegation from Sweden arrived in Erbil on Wednesday to meet with Peshmerga officials and exchange views about the country’s continued military cooperation and trainings.
Acting Peshmerga Minister Karim Sinjari received the delegation headed by Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Micael Bydén. They reviewed the military trainings the Swedish advisors provide to the Peshmerga personnel.
Sinjari thanked Sweden for continuously supporting the Peshmerga throughout the years-long battle against the Islamic State (IS). He also invited the Swedish army to play a role in helping Peshmerga Ministry’s reform plan.
Bydén, on his turn, commended the role of the Peshmerga forces in the war against the Islamic State, promising to continue the support to the Peshmerga.
He also vowed to consider his country’s involvement in the reformation plan of the Peshmerga Ministry.
