DUHOK — At least one IDP was killed on Friday as fire raged a camp in Kurdistan Region’s Duhok Province.
The victim is a four-month-old child who died as a result of the smoke in their tent, according to Salim Saaid, an official from Duhok.
At least IDP three tents were turned into ashes before the firefighting crew arrived at the scene.
The fire erupted as a result of a malfunctioning kerosene heater in one of the tents, Saad pointed out.
Local authorities also arrived at the camp soon after the incident to provide the affected families with new tents and all the necessary utilities.
This is the third fire incident in IDP camps in less than 10 days.
