KIRKUK — Unknown assailants on Saturday attacked the home of a Kurdish photojournalist working for Reuters in central Kirkuk.
According to the information obtained by BasNews, Ako Rashid’s home was attacked by a grenade. No fatalities were reported but damages to the property.
BasNews attempted to verify the reports with the head of Kirkuk security, Afrasyaw Kamil, who was not available at the time of preparing the report.
Since the Iraqi army and Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shaabi have taken over Kirkuk and pushed the Kurdish Peshmerga forces out of the province, security situation there is facing new challenges in the post-Islamic State (IS) era.
