Deputy of Peshmerga Forces' Chief of Staff, Salar Mohamed Jabari, told BasNews that the Peshmerga forces should return to the areas they recaptured from the Islamic State (IS) before the major operation to retake Mosul was launched.
“We are now making coordinations to return to those areas,” Jabari said.
He added that the ministry is now reorganizing the Peshmerga forces.
On October 16, 2017, Hashd al-Shaabi militias and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps with support from some officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) moved onto Kirkuk and invaded the city.
