ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Parliament’s Deputy Speaker, Jaafer Emniki, strongly responded to the recent statement of Iraqi VP Nouri al-Maliki who has said that they would not allow a “second Israel” to be created in the Middle East, in reference to Kurdistan Region.
Iraqi VP, who is a Shi’ite politician and former prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, said in a meeting with the US Ambassador to Iraq that they will not allow the creation of a “second Israel” in northern Iraq. Maliki's statement comes while Kurdistan Region is only a week away from holding an independence vote.
Emniki said that such statements have been uttered by someone whose totalitarian rule was unprecedented in the history of the country and was the source of great adversities for all Iraqis.
He noted that Maliki killed far more Arabs during his eight-year-tenure than Israel did throughout decades.
The Kurdish official called on Maliki to stop the “transgressions” against Kurdistan Region and warned him that Kurdistan Region’s people will not allow people like him “to set foot in Kurdistan” and rule over the region.
