ERBIL — Kornel Morawiecki, Senior Marshal of the Polish parliament, MP and Chairman of Free and Solidarity political party, expressed support for the referendum and independence of Kurdistan Region.
During a press conference on September 12 in the Polish parliament, Morawiecki lauded the key role of Kurds in the fight against terrorism, sheltering large numbers of IDPs and refugees, and remaining a model of peaceful coexistence of different religious and ethnic groups, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representation in Poland reported.
Ziyad Rauf, the KRG Representative to Poland, said at the same conference that after a hundred years of difficult and tragic experience with Iraq, Kurds have realized that it is no longer possible to be part of Iraq. He noted that the constitution and all political agreements on partnership are constantly violated, adding that Kurds are striving for creating an independent state that can be a factor of stability in the Middle East.
The press conference in the Polish parliament was part of the intensive political and media campaign organized by KRG Representative in Poland ahead of Kurdistan’s independence referendum.
