DIYALA — Two Peshmerga troops and a civilian were wounded on Saturday after a bomb exploded in Gulala district of Khanaqin city in Diyala province.
A local official said that an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in Tibij area in Gulala district (Kurdish name for Jalawla) in Khanaqin, went off on Saturday morning, wounding two Peshmerga troops along with a civilian.
The IEDs in the area have reportedly been planted by the Islamic State (IS) militants who are still holding some areas in the province.
The IS militants exploded last night two power towers in the same area, causing a power-cut in Qaratapa town and the nearby villages.
According to local officials, IS has detonated seven bombs in the area during the past week.
