ERBIL — Iranian army’s artillery units bombarded overnight Thursday Kurdistan Region border areas, claiming to have been targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition forces, locals said.
A source from Choman district of Erbil province reported to BasNews that the bombardment started at around 22:45 local time (+3 GMT) near Gundazhor village.
He said level of the possible damages is not known yet.
Earlier this year several times these areas have been targeted by Iranian bombardments with several civilians reported injured.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has previously urged Tehran to respect its shared border strip and end bombarding the region.
