DUHOK — Turkish military jets bombarded areas of Amedi city in Duhok province located near the Turkish border on Fridady, leaving one civilian wounded.
Dler Zebari, commander of Kurdistan Region's border guards, told Kurdistan24 that "two Turkish warplanes bombarded Shaja and Bejaliyan villages in Shiladze sub district of Amedi city for one hour."
BasNews reporter in Shiladze said a 30-year-old woman has been injured as a result of the air raid.
However, no reports have yet been released regarding the extent of the financial damage caused to the area.
Turkish Air Force frequently conduct aerial attacks in Kurdistan Region areas near the Turkish border which are meant to target the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). However, the airstrikes also pose a serious threat to the civilians' lives as well as their properties.
A ceasefire between Turkey and PKK collapsed in July 2015, and thousands of PKK guerrillas, Turkish soldiers, policemen, and civilians have died in the ensuing violence thus far.
