ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani stated on Monday that Kurds from the former Soviet Union and Central Asia have "successfully undertaken the biggest mission" of the Kurdish nation.
Barzani, who received a delegation from the Federation of Kurdish Communities from former USSR in his office in Erbil, commended the Kurds from those countries by saying they have "protected the identity, patriotic and national descent of the Kurdish nation."
The delegation expressed their willingness to offer any support in the interest of the Kurdish nation.
The visiting officials also praised the Peshmerga forces and their sacrifices for safeguarding the nation against the Islamic jihadists.
During the meeting, the federation members also expanded on the situation and life of Kurds in the former Soviet Union.
