TUZ KHURMATU — Two explosions rocked central Tuz Khurmatu district midday June 18th, leaving two people dead and several injured.
The first explosion took place in Tin neighborhood of Tuz Khurmatu which was carried out via an explosive devise planted in public, said the local officials.
Muhammed Fayiq, Director of Media Office at the Mayoral Council of Tuz Khurmatu, posted on social media that the second blast occurred at a police checkpoint.
He revealed that the explosion was carried out via a car bomb with a suicide bomber behind the wheel. The vehicle was described as a truck packed with explosives.
Local hospital officials reported that two people were killed in the twin blasts with at least 10 others injured.
The explosions come after another blast that hit the city on Friday with six people injured.
