ERBIL — At least three civilians were wounded after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off on Tuesday in Salahaddin province, north of Baghdad.
The explosion took place near a water supply project in Beiji, according to media reports.
Security officials have not yet commented on the attack.
No groups or organizations have yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State (IS) is suspected to have masterminded the bombing.
Bombings, assassinations, and kidnaping of civilians have been on the rise recently across Iraq. The central government and security forces are being blamed for the continuous instability in the country.
Earlier the day, a civilian was assassinated in the broad light of the day in northeast Baghdad. The assassins fled the scene before the security forces arrived there.
BasNews reported previously that a veteran policeman was gunned down in central Kirkuk overnight on Monday, with perpetrators still on the loose.
