ERBIL — US-led Coalition fighter jets carried out an airstrike against a group of IS insurgents on Saturday near Kushaf village in Nineveh province of northern Iraq, killing at least five jihadists.
Kurdish Peshmerga commander, Sirwan Barzani, confirmed the report and revealed that the IS militants had clashed with the Iraqi elite forces earlier the day in Mosul, as reported by Kurdistan 24.
IS militants are still active in some remote areas of northern and western Iraq. They often target civilians or security forces.
The Coalition forces continue their air campaign against IS remnants and their hideouts.
