BAGHDAD — A bombing targeted an Iraqi paramilitary group as the country was celebrating the New Year and hoping for a peaceful beginning of the post-Islamic State (IS) era.
“A bomb placed under a vehicle, driven by a member of the Tribal Mobilization Forces, exploded at noon, while passing al-Radwaniyah region, west of Baghdad,” a source confirmed to Alghad Press.
One tribal fighter was seriously injured before being taken to a nearby hospital.
Security forces, according to the source, soon arrived at the scene for investigations.
No groups or organisations have yet claimed responsibility for the bombing, but the Islamic State (IS) is likely to be behind the attack.
