KIRKUK — Nine leaders of the Islamic State (IS) organization, including a Russian national, were killed during an air raid of the US-led Global Coalition in south-west of Kirkuk Province.
Local sources confirmed on Saturday the death of nine IS leaders, including a person of Russian nationality, by the US-led coalition’s warplanes in south-west of the Kirkuk Province.
The coalition’s air force bombed a site where a number of IS leaders had gathered in the village of Rummanah in Hawija district, the last IS stronghold in Kirkuk.
According to the initial reports, nine leaders of the extremist organization, including Abu Muslim al-Rusi, a leader with Russian nationality who had moved from Nineveh to Hawija.
The sources noted that the air strike also destroyed a number of vehicle and a tactical unit belonging to the group.
