ERBIL — More than 100 fighters of the Iraqi Shi’ite Arab militia troops of Hashd al-Shaabi were mistakenly killed or injured on Monday in an airstrike near the Iraq-Syria border.
According to a press release by Sayed al-Shohada brigade of Hashd al-Shaabi, the friendly fire has costed the lives of 35 fighters of the group.
Over 85 others were reported injured in the strike which took place near in Anbar province.
The Hashd al-Shaabi has put the blame on the the US-led coalition for the attack.
The Shi’ite armed group has called on the Iraqi army to launch immediate investigations into the incident.
