ERBIL — US-led coalition conducted a series of airstrikes in Iraq’s western province of Anbar, destroying an Islamic State (IS) vigilantes office, according to an Iraqi army source.
The source who spoke to Al Sumaria News on condition of anonymity said that the coalition jets targeted and hit IS’s so-called Hisbah, or vigilantes office, in the town of Annah on Sunday.
As a result of the airstrike, a small number of IS militants were killed inside the building, the source added.
The town of Annah has been under IS-control since 2014, when the group first emerged in Iraq. Up to this point, there has not been a wide-scale military campaign to recapture those areas, but several offensives have been conducted by the Iraqi forces to take over several surrounding villages.
