BAGHDAD —The Iraqi Shi’ite militia group known as Hashd al-Shaabi or the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Wednesday opposed the presence of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Iraq, saying it is against the constitution.

“The Iraqi constitution does not allow any [armed] group to use the Iraq’s soil to attack neighboring countries,” said Ahmed Asadi, a spokesperson for Hashd al-Shaabi.

He also expressed concern over Tuesday’s Turkish airstrikes in Sinjar in which five Kurdish Peshmerga troops were killed and nine others injured. The Shi’ite group’s spokesperson reiterated that Peshmerga forces and Hashd al-Shaabi are allied wishing Iraq’s defense structure.
