MOSUL — The People's Mobilization Forces (PMF), also known as al-Hashd al-Shaabi, have captured three villages in west of Mosul on Wednesday.
The battle to recapture the three villages of Im Kreiz, Ghanem al-Awwad and Harraj in al-Hadar from Islamic State (IS) militants began on Tuesday, according to Iraqi News.
So far 12 villages have been retaken by Iraqi forces in the past two days.
The operation to recapture western Mosul began in February, after eastern part of the city was declared liberated in January. The operation is led by the Iraqi forces in conjunction with the US-led international anti-IS coalition.
