SOFIA — Six elite leaders of the so-called Islamic State (IS) were either killed or wounded by an airstrike conducted by the US-led coalition, the Iraqi Intelligence Service said on Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the Iraqi Intelligence Service based on accurate information obtained by them, the US-led coalition against IS has targeted and hit a vehicle carrying a number of IS members, IraqiNews reported.
The airstrike resulted in the death of the media official of the so-called Wilayat al-Janub, Abu Hajar al-Ghareri, as well as the media official of al-Hamza axis,Abu Ibrahim, and another member of the group known as Abu al-Khattab.
The statement further added that the coalition airstrike wounded two other members of the extremist group, one of which is Mohanad Abbas, also known as Abu Saif, the media official of the so-called Wilayat Baghdad.
However, the Intelligence Service statement did not reveal the location of the bombardment.
The US-led coalition continues supporting the Iraqi government in their fight against the Islamic State targeting and bombing the group in Iraq and Syria.
