SINJAR — The authority of administering Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) affairs in Sinjar has been given to the Shi'ite militia known as Hashd al-Shaabi, said a Kurdish official in Sinjar.
Waheed Bakozi, an official of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Sinjar, told BasNews on Wednesday that the authority of supervising the PKK forces and their relations with the Iraqi central government was delegated to the chairman of Hashd al-Shaabi committee in the Iraqi government Falih al-Fayyadh who is also the National Security Adviser.
He also revealed that Baghdad has increased PKK forces' monthly salary to 750,000 Iraqi dinars ($575) per fighter for 500 registered fighters. However, PKK has deployed 500 more troops in Sinjar which brings the total number of its forces to 1,000. Therefore the organization pays each fighter only 400,000 Iraqi dinars ($305) monthly, he said.
Bakozi added that PKK has established a committee to administrate its fighters' salary distribution in Sinjar.
