Yezidi Abducted Girl Mistaken for IS Sniper

ERBIL— A girl who was captured and identified by the Iraqi forces as a Russian sniper of the Islamic State (IS) organization is in reality an abducted Yezidi girl, her family confirms.

After seeing the photo of their daughter in the reports, Nzal Khalid Koro’s family recognized her and is now following up the procedures to return her back to home.

They say their daughter was kidnapped from Hardan district of Sinjar in 2014 by the IS.

When she was captured,  Koro was unable to speak due to her psychological state. But later when she spoke, she indicated that as she had been imprisoned for over two months in an underground basement, she could not talk and tell the Iraqi forces that she was a victim.
