ERBIL - The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Thursday that it had eliminated an Islamic State (IS) cell in Syria's Hasakah province.
Photos and videos went viral on social media platforms on Wednesday showing warplanes of the US-led Coalition targeting a house in Khirbet Jamous village in Hasakah.
Shafaq News cited its correspondent in the area as explaining that members of an IS cell had been inside the house and they refused to surrender to the SDF forces.
"The operation, which was backed up by the Global Coalition airforce, targeted a house in which terrorist elements were hiding, two of them were responsible for assassinating civilians and security personnel," the SDF media center said.
"During the raid, the units clashed with members of the terrorist cell who shot at our forces, in an attempt to escape, which resulted in the death of one of our fighters."
