ERBIL — The Peshmerga Ministry will devise a plan to accelerate the steps of the military reform to address the security concerns in the region, said Minister Shorish Ismail.
The minister discussed the reform plan among other topics during a meeting with the US-led Global Coalition’ commanders on Sunday in Erbil.
Ismail emphasized that the recent increasing terrorist attacks have added to the security concerns across the region, which requires closer coordination and cooperation between the Iraqi and Peshmerga forces, as well as the Coalition.
He explained that the Peshmerga Ministry will make initiatives to reach a final agreement with the Iraqi Defense Minister to improve security and stability of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, especially in the disputed territories.
Colonel David William, senior advisor for the Coalition’s Coordination Center, said they will continue supporting the Peshmerga ministry in its steps towards a successful reform.
