ERBIL — After seven months of suspended works, the renovation of the Yezidi’s Lalish Temple has now resumed.
Khalid Narmo, a supervisor of the project, told BasNews that several foreign experts are monitoring the renovation to make sure that the historic characteristics of the temple are preserved.
“The project was suspended because the experts had to return to their home countries for concerns over the pandemic,” Narmo explained, saying that all the supervisors will soon join them at the temple.
The renovation of Lalish Temple is funded by the US Department of State and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Lalish Temple had been closed down together with all the religious sites after the outbreak of COVID-19 in April this year. Earlier this month, the KRG allowed the reopening of the temple after five months.
