ERBIL — Delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) met on Saturday to discuss the upcoming Iraqi elections.
In a press conference after the meeting, the two major parties said they are working to unite the Kurdish political factions for the early polls.
Iraq has set the election for June 2021, which was promised by Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi before he took office earlier this year.
A new system is proposed for the snap elections which the Kurds believe would harm the Kurdish voice in the disputed territories.
