ERBIL - Iraq is expected to reopen the Arar border crossing with Saudi Arabia in the near future, a report said on Wednesday.
Iraq's head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, received the Saudi ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, to discuss preparations for reopening the border crossing, as reported by Shafaq News.
The Saudi envoy also expressed his country's willingness to further expand its commercial ties with Iraq, according to the report.
The Arar border crossing has been closed since 1990. There were also some efforts to reopen it last year.
