ERBIL - Turkey on Sunday suspended flights to and from neighboring Iraq until September 1 to better contain the spread of coronavirus, a statement confirmed.
Iraq's Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement that the decision was made at a request of Turkey's Health Ministry, as the daily number of coronavirus cases continues to spike in Iraq.
Baghdad decided to halt flights on March 17, 2020, amid the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. Flights were resumed on July 23.
Iraq has so far seen more than 126,000 COVID-19 cases while over 231,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Turkey.
