ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants in the early hours on Thursday targeted the Iraqi army in the disputed Kurdish territories of Diyala province, killing at least one soldier.
A local source confirmed to BasNews that the Iraqi forces had come under attack in the village of Sherik, near Khanaqin.
At least one soldier was killed and four others were injured.
This is the second IS attack in the same village this week. The jihadist group had killed one soldier and injured three during the previous raid.
