ERBIL — Iraqi’s National Security Council said on Thursday that they had arrested three people, one man and two women, over human organs trafficking.
According to an official statement by the council, two women and a man were arrested after they were found in a suspicious circle trafficking living organs.
“The accused have admitted that they found their targets on social media platforms,” reads the statement.
According to Kurdistan 24, the group were arrested in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk.
“They worked as an organized band coming from Baghdad… Besides kidney trafficking, they were also involved in prostitution,” a source told Kurdistan 24, revealing that unauthorized surgeries were carried out inside a residential apartment.
