ERBIL — The Salahaddin province of Iraq on Monday called for urgent response by the federal government as the coronavirus outbreak is “getting out of control”.
MP Mohammed Baldawi, who represents Salahaddin at the parliament of Iraq, told Shafaq News that the health department of his province is exhausted with the large number of infections and limited infrastructure.
“Insufficient medical supplies and infrastructure with the people neglecting health instructions have all left the health department desperate to handle the situation,” the lawmaker said.
He described the situation in Tikrit, Dujail, Balad, and Shargat as “threatening”.
Iraq has so far recorded 60,479 cases of new coronavirus across the country. The pandemic has claimed 2,473 lives.
