Shia Militias Burn US, Israel Flags after Brief Detention by Iraqi Government

ERBIL - Iraqi militias on Tuesday set fire to the US and Israeli flags in reaction to their brief detention by the government.

The militias, who were said to be members of Iraqi Hezbollah which operates under the umbrella of pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi, also stepped on the picture of Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

This comes a few days after the Iraqi security forces arrested 14 militiamen of Hezbollah who were suspected of being behind the rocket attacks on the foreign forces and the fortified Green Zone.

During the operation conducted on June 26, the security forces also seized 10 rockets.
