ERBIL - The health ministry of Iraq said on Monday that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has now surpassed 47,000.
The ministry has registered 1,749 new infections with coronavirus across Iraq, including those confirmed in the Kurdistan Region, over the past 24 hours.
It also noted that at least 87 patients have lost their lives since yesterday.
With the new reports, the total number of people so far infected with the novel virus reached 47,151, out of which 1,839 patients have died since March.
However, the health ministry on Monday also recorded 1,852 more recoveries, with which at least 22,974 people have been discharged from the hospital and recovered from COVID-19 in the country.
