ERBIL — At least 17 senior officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have contracted the novel coronavirus, said a source.
Speaking to BasNews on Saturday, the source, who wished to remain anonymous, said the infected senior officials are from different leadership organs of the PUK, including the party’s politburo.
Sulaymaniyah province, where the PUK is dominant, has become the epicenter of the outbreak in Kurdistan.
Out of 5,185 confirmed cases, 3,758 are in Sulaymaniyah, with a fast daily increase of the tally.
