Iran: COVID-19 Cases Near 130,000

ERBIL - The total number of coronavirus infections in Iran has now neared 130,000, according to the country's health ministry.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Kianoush Janahpour, a spokesperson for the ministry, pointed out that a total of 2,392 new cases have been confirmed across Iran over the past day.

With the new reports, the total cases reached 129,341, Jahanpour said.

He also noted that at least 66 other patients have lost their lives during the same period of time, taking the death toll in the country to 7,249 since the outbreak of the novel virus in Iran.

However, the spokesperson added that 100,564 patients have so far recovered from coronavirus and returned home.
