ERBIL — Iraqi oil minister said on Sunday his country has no connection with an oil tanker Iran seized earlier the day for alleged smuggling fuel onboard.
Iran said its Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) had seized the ship in the Persian Gulf, which was carrying some 5,000 barrels of diesel.
"The ministry does not export diesel to the international market", Iraqi oil ministry said in a statement.
While the Iraqi government agencies have launched an investigation into the claims, two port officials said the vessel is a “small ship” owned by a private company.
